Guided Walks In The Lake District (Coniston and Ambleside)
Wandering Boots provides guided walks for every level of walker. From the short ramble through a secluded valley with cascading streams to a more demanding walk on some of the highest peaks in Cumbria. With Wandering Boots you can escape the tourist traps and experience breathtaking panoramic views.
We operate throughout the year, which allows you to experience an ever-changing colourful landscape ranging from the blossoming colours of spring, the lush green colours in summer to the golden colours of autumn and snow top mountains in winter.
Our experienced guides have years of experience and will personally look after you. There’s no need to worry about travel arrangements because we can transport you to and from each walk.
As well as group bookings we also provide tailored walks to suit the individual so whatever your requirements whether it’s a one day high-level walk or a gentle low level stroll then feel free to call and discuss it with us.

Guided 4x4 Tours In The Lake District (Starting from Coniston and Ambleside)
Wandering Boots Guided Tours encapsulate the Lake District; high mountain passes, waterfalls, hamlets, villages and not forgetting the many lakes and tarns. We will take you to some of the most interesting and beautiful areas with opportunities to take photographs of breathtaking beauty. Our aim is to give you a memorable and enjoyable experience.
Your Wandering Boots tour can either be a full day or half day. We can arrange to meet you at your point of stay and at the end of the tour we can take you back to your accommodation or your chosen drop off point. Our tours are unique in Cumbria, taking small groups of up to 3 people in the comfort of a Suzuki Vitara.

Basic Map And Compass Course
At Wandering Boots we believe that navigation can and should be fun. This informative one day course is designed for beginners and will introduce the basics of map reading, using a compass and navigation techniques. The course takes place in the tranquillity of the southern lake-district where you’ll experience spectacular views. By the end of the programme you’ll feel more confident with a map and compass and you’ll have developed some invaluable skills that will make walking a lot more pleasurable.
You do not need to be extremely fit but you do need a degree endurance to walk over rough terrain whilst gaining and losing height One to one tuition is available on request.

Check List
Lakeland weather can be very changeable and it is therefore important to be fully prepared with adequate clothing and equipment. We do not recommend denim clothing for any of our outdoor activities as it retains water and becomes cold when wet.

You all outdoor activities you will require:

• Sturdy walking boots with good sole tread
• Waterproof jacket and over trousers
• Rucksack
• Spare warm clothing
• Water bottle
• Sun hat, sun cream, sun glasses,
• Personal first aid requirements including a warm hat and gloves
• Packed lunch
• Compass and Map (if attending the Basic Navigation Course)

Terms and Conditions
Bookings: Bookings do not hold firm until the fee has been received by Wandering Boots.
Age: All participants must be at least 18 years of age for any Wandering Boots activity. This excludes the 4 x 4 tours where participants can be under 18 provided they are accompanied by a responsible adult.
Alterations & Cancellations by Wandering Boots: Whilst every attempt will be made to ensure that the particular activity actually runs, Wandering Boots reserves the right to vary or cancel any activity due to unsuitable or dangerous conditions. In the most unlikely event of cancellation by the company an alternative course date will be offered or monies will be refunded in full. In the case of guided walks the leader reserves the right to change the route if for any reason the leader believes that a person or persons are unable to complete the planned walk or if weather conditions make it unsafe to continue the walk.
Cancellations by You: If you cancel the activity for whatever reason, the following refunds will apply: within six weeks of the activity commencement date a full refund will be given. Within two weeks of activity commencement date no refund will be given.
Fitness: For outdoor activities a general standard of fitness is required. If you have a medical condition you are strongly advised to seek your doctors advice prior to coming on the course or guided walk. Information given to the company is strictly confidential. The company cannot be held responsible for any illness or injury caused as a result of an ongoing medical condition or poor standard of health and fitness.
Behaviour: Should the instructor find that any participant is being disruptive or spoiling the enjoyment of others, then that person or group will be asked to leave.
Punctuality: You are asked to make suitable travel arrangements to arrive in time for any Wandering Boots activity. If you do not make it, for whatever reason and no attempt has been made to inform the company you will not be entitled to a refund.
Safety: All of our walks have been risk assessed and we carry a range of safety equipment for your protection, including a group survival shelter and a first aid kit. Our guides have current first aid certificates and are all skilled mountain walkers with many years of knowledge and experience of the Lake District.
Should any instructor find any course participant is jeopardising the safety of others, that person or group will be asked to leave and will not be entitled to a refund.
Insurance and Disclaimer: Hill and Mountain walking, like all outdoor activities, does involve some degree of personal risk. Wandering Boots will of course take all reasonable precautions to avoid accidents but we cannot take responsibility for injury to any person whilst taking part on a Wandering Boots activity. We would suggest that you arrange suitable insurance, against risks entailed on your walk.
We will not be liable for losses or damage to you luggage or personal effects caused by circumstances beyond our control.
We strongly recommend, for your own protection and peace of mind that you take out personal insurance to cover cancellation, accident, damage, loss, theft and injury with a reputable insurance provider.
Wandering Boots recognises that hill and mountain walking are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of this and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement. A declaration is to be completed before starting your activity.
Agreement: You must sign and agree to the booking terms and conditions and complete our health and safety questionnaire issued upon payment. Failure to do so will result in you not being admitted on the Wandering Boots activity.
Country Code: You are asked to respect the environment being used throughout the course. The company will not be responsible for any damage or destruction caused to the countryside or buildings due to the neglect or actions of any course participant. If any course participant is found to have caused damage or is behaving in a manner likely to cause damage or destruction to the countryside, that person or group will be asked to leave the course and may be liable for compensation to the owner of such land or property.

About Us
Wandering Boots is owned and was established by Graeme Walton who is an experienced hill walker and trainer. He has worked as a consultant and led programmes at an executive level and specialises in team building, project development and change management. He has also worked as a manager in an Education Action Zone and has over 10 years experience in the voluntary and community sector.

Team Building

The programme is designed in such a way that every member of the team can be involved no matter what his or her level of fitness or ability.

Organisational Cevelopment (1 day course)
This course is facilitated by a qualified Investors in People Champion it is ideal for any organisation looking to develop good practice. This will be done by:

• Looking at the aims and objectives of your organisation and ensuring they are communicated effectively to everyone involved in the organisation.
• Identifying policies that should be implemented
• Understanding the support required for employees in new jobs
• Addressing the training and development needs within your organisation

Marketing And Public Relations (1 day course)
A practical one-day course – the Marketing and Public Relations Session examines classic marketing techniques and how they can be applied to help you face the opportunities and challenges within your own business or organisation.

Starting with the basics including understanding your market, your product/s and branding, the course moves on to examine a range of promotional techniques (from advertising and direct mail, to the media and the Internet).

In addition, the session provides a valuable insight into Public Relations and how to develop a marketing strategy.

Volunteers And Volunteering (1 day course)
Facilitated by the author of ‘Working with Volunteers: A Guide to Good Practice’ - this programme can help you to identify methods of recruitment, create a Volunteer Policy, implement good practice and support volunteers.

Effective Chairing And Meetings (half day course)
Chairing meetings and running effective meetings can be a difficult task. This half day course can help you to:

• Clarify the role and responsibilities of the chair
• Understand the procedures for chairing a meeting
• Implement good practice to make your meetings more effective

The Management Committee (one day course)
A course that introduces the roles and responsibilities of the Management Committee. This course will help you to:

• Clarify who are the management committee are
